These immaculately textured ceramic denim Walkabout Jeans are sporting a pair of tap boots and set onto a disco floor base. 

Tap Dancer - Tommy - I call him Tommy.  His flashy tap shoes were made to appear to be patent leather with shiny metal taps on the toes and heels, as visible in the mirrored base.  I liked his delicate shoe laces so much, I rolled the front of his jeans under a bit at the ankle (as often happens in real life) to show them off.  As a Texan through and through, he considers himself as a modern Tommy Tune, and loves to show off his metal taps on the bottom of his favorite tap shoes with the bright red laces.

Get to Know the Artist
I have been having great fun and fulfillment working in ceramics for the last 10 years, and my favorite creations are my “Walkabout Jeans” figurines, as inspired by my most-loved piece of clothing - blue jeans.  For me, they are comfortable, comforting, protective, and they provide all the pockets I need to carry my essentials.  I wear my jeans until they are threadbare, because getting rid of them is like abandoning an old friend.  One day I pondered whether my old jeans could take on a life and personality of their own, and go out and explore the world. I decided to start modeling my jeans in clay and glaze, and I just love making them.  They have evolved over the years, and, as influenced by my last 15 years in Texas, many have become cowboys, as shown in my latest gallery pieces.  Each pair of jeans is individually hand-built, painstakingly detailed, glazed, and painted, one at a time, each with their own uniqueness, just like each of us.
