These immaculately textured ceramic denim Walkabout Jeans are accompanied by a soccer ball and yellow cleats. 

Soccer Player - Lee - I call him Lee.  He represents the first athletic endeavor of my Walkabout Jeans, after the skateboard series. It took a few tries to make the ceramic soccer ball, and he was the first figure to sport athletic shoes with cleats, and to be posed with his weight on one leg, with the other flexed at the hip, knee and ankle.  After a long day at work, he loves to get out on the field with his friends and kick the ball around.  He takes great pride in his bright yellow soccer shoes with cleats.

Get to Know the Artist
I have been having great fun and fulfillment working in ceramics for the last 10 years, and my favorite creations are my “Walkabout Jeans” figurines, as inspired by my most-loved piece of clothing - blue jeans.  For me, they are comfortable, comforting, protective, and they provide all the pockets I need to carry my essentials.  I wear my jeans until they are threadbare, because getting rid of them is like abandoning an old friend.  One day I pondered whether my old jeans could take on a life and personality of their own, and go out and explore the world. I decided to start modeling my jeans in clay and glaze, and I just love making them.  They have evolved over the years, and, as influenced by my last 15 years in Texas, many have become cowboys, as shown in my latest gallery pieces.  Each pair of jeans is individually hand-built, painstakingly detailed, glazed, and painted, one at a time, each with their own uniqueness, just like each of us.
