Black rope is a twisted satin-style decorative/piping cord
Denim-blue cord is a braided cotton blend
13" × 10" × 1.5"

Inspired by Kendrick Lamar’s “I got loyalty, got royalty inside my DNA,” twisted black cords evoke ancestral DNA, while the blue knot represents the Atlantic Ocean crossing. The piece transforms a history of bondage into resilience, beauty, and pride.

Get to Know the Artist:
Sharron Smalls, founder and artist behind Boogiedownbeader, began creating jewelry while searching for a meaningful bracelet to symbolize her recovery journey. What started with one bracelet grew into a passion for creating handcrafted, one-of-one wearable works of art. Working with natural stones and materials, I draw inspiration from colors, textures, imperfections, and natural beauty. Each are alive with beauty and purpose—just like us—and because no two people are alike, no two pieces created are either. My designs are thoughtfully handcrafted with intention, joy, and a piece of my personal journey.
