I create spaces that feel occupied by memory, inviting viewers to inhabit them with their own stories. Red Chair imagines a room I hope to have one day. The checkered floor and vintage chair are quiet aspirations, turning the painting into both a portrait of longing and a vision of home.

Ashley Lazarz is an Austin-based painter and poet whose work explores the emotional landscapes we carry within ourselves. Through expressive color, layered textures, and intuitive mark-making, she creates spaces where memory, identity, and vulnerability intersect. Influenced by both abstract expressionism and the human figure, her paintings invite viewers to inhabit moments of tension, stillness, and transformation.
