Please Leave A Message explores how a space can feel simultaneously empty and full. The abandoned chair and hanging telephone suggest a story without revealing it: Did someone hang up to run toward the caller? Did someone leave, or were they left behind? I'm interested in creating environments that ask more questions than they answer, inviting viewers to inhabit the silence and complete the narrative through their own memories and experiences.
Get to Know the Artist:
Ashley Lazarz is an Austin-based painter and poet whose work explores the emotional landscapes we carry within ourselves. Through expressive color, layered textures, and intuitive mark-making, she creates spaces where memory, identity, and vulnerability intersect. Influenced by both abstract expressionism and the human figure, her paintings invite viewers to inhabit moments of tension, stillness, and transformation.
