Patchwork of Windows
Clara Hart
Collage on wood panel
31.5"h x 25.25"w x 2"D, framed
2026
Through these pieces, I wanted to explore the idea of the familiarity of an intimate space, using color and light as modes of abstraction. I hoped to create the suggestion of a resident in this home through the small details that make up a day-to-day experience. Objects like a pair of glasses, a bowl of fruit, and houseplants act as quiet traces of the person who inhabits the space. While the two halves of this diptych showcase distinct views into a personal space, each framed view adds context to the other. Together, they create a fragmented sense of a home that is both familiar and slightly removed from reality.
Get to Know the Austin Artist:
Clara Hart is an Austin-based artist who explores ideas of familiarity and comfort through hand-painted paper collage. Her work combines inviting domestic spaces with unexpected perspectives, creating environments that feel both recognizable and imagined. Drawing inspiration from children's book illustration, architecture, and quilting, she uses geometric forms, layered patterns, and color to transform everyday spaces into playful, dreamlike compositions.
