A swirl reminiscent of the Milky Way spins across this glass bowl’s glittering surface, anchored by three gold comet accents that stabilize its form. This piece was born on the open decks of cruise ships, where Ryan spent ten years blowing glass for the Corning Museum of Glass. On clear nights somewhere in the middle of the ocean, she’d walk the decks and look up — the sky impossibly full of stars, the sea impossibly dark below — and feel, briefly, like a single small point of light in something much larger. This bowl holds that feeling.
