Once upon a time there were seven celestial guardians whose lights shone as sapphire stars in a golden crown above the world. Each star embodied a virtue: Courage, Wisdom, Wonder, Memory, Perseverance, Compassion, and Transformation. For ages the crown remained fixed among the constellations, until a darkness began to spread between the stars. The guardians joined their lights together and cast the crown into the heavens. As it crossed the sky, it transformed into a blazing comet, carrying the seven sapphire stars wherever it traveled. The Crown Comet pendant is inspired by that legend.
 

Get to Know the Artist:
Laurie Davis is an Austin-area metalsmith creating one-of-a-kind art jewelry inspired by celestial phenomena, ancient and modern cosmology, and the structured interplay of metal, texture, and gemstones. She discovered her love of astronomy at an early age, gazing in wonder at the constellations from her backyard. Years later, holding a jeweler’s torch for the first time, she found a new way to translate that sense of wonder into metal. Her work brings together science, myth, and material to create dramatic, evocative jewelry that inspires awe and connects the wearer to the fundamental forces of the universe.
