I'm interested in how spaces absorb memory, allowing everyday objects to become vessels for presence, absence, and the lingering atmosphere of a shared experience. Afterparty is based on a photograph I took at the end of a wedding celebration, when the room had begun to empty and only small traces of the evening remained.
Get to Know the Artist:
Ashley Lazarz is an Austin-based painter and poet whose work explores the emotional landscapes we carry within ourselves. Through expressive color, layered textures, and intuitive mark-making, she creates spaces where memory, identity, and vulnerability intersect. Influenced by both abstract expressionism and the human figure, her paintings invite viewers to inhabit moments of tension, stillness, and transformation.
